Derek Jeter is not the most excellent hitter, but he is absolutely the team leader. The 31-year-old guy just finish his eleventh year in the big league with 202hits, 122runs, 19HRs, 70RBIs, and .309 AVG. His 202 hits ranked third in the major league, and it is his fourth year with 200+ hits. His .039 AVG ranked eleventh. Jeter is consistent this year, contrary to no-hit-streak last year. He hit 2 HR in the postseason, the most in the club.
However, Jeter stuck out eighteen times more than last year. He is a good outside pitch hitter, he is right-hand batter but more than half of the ball went to the right field. I think that's why he cannot hit many HR.
Jeter committed two more errors than last year, when he won his first Gold Glove Award.
The yankees can lose Sheffield, Mussina, but cannot lose Jeter.
